Aim:
The aim of this project is to investigate the role and purpose of grids in artistic and real-life contexts. It explores whether grids function as tools of control or support, how their purpose has evolved across various artistic expressions, and how they can empower or limit audience agency. Additionally, the project seeks to understand the metaphorical presence of grids in everyday life and examines the tension between free will and confinement within these structures.
“The Grid,” a speculative design concept envisioning a spherical grid enveloping the Earth to manipulate weather patterns. This project serves as a commentary on humanity’s escalating need to assert control over natural systems to mitigate our detrimental impacts. By transforming the grid from a supportive tool to a mechanism of dominance, “The Grid” highlights the potential dangers and ethical implications of overextending our influence on the planet. Through this conceptual framework, the project questions the balance between Grids as a tool of support and confinement.
