The book cover aims to convey a sense of loss, transformation, and resilience, subtly drawing the viewer in with enigmatic typography—strands of hair—hinting at deeper layers of meaning without revealing the story’s secrets.
(Under the Wave is a short story from The New Yorker, following a Mother and Child grieving and recovering from the aftermath of a terrible tragedy. This project features a conceptual cover design and the layout for the opening spreads of the story.)
