In Kanekes, a forbidden ritual sparks paranoia and suspicion.
I designed the programme booklet and graphic props for the theatre play, drawing inspiration from the traditional Indonesian art form Wayang. The props were influenced by graphic design from the Java region (where the play is set) during Dutch colonial rule.
(Tabir Tarian Arwah ("Veil of the Spirit Dance") is a one-act play inspired by 'The Crucible', set in colonial Indonesia. It explores hysteria over black magic as a reflection of colonial and patriarchal oppression, using Indonesian mysticism and traditional art to highlight hidden agendas and women's roles as scapegoats and symbols of cultural resistance.)
